Studeriotes longiramosa

Studeriotes longiramosa is a species of soft coral in the family Paralcyoniidae, commonly known as the Christmas tree coral because its extended branches and polyps form a distinctive tree-like silhouette. This non-photosynthetic coral relies on capturing suspended plankton and other fine organic particles rather than obtaining most of its energy from light, making regular and appropriately sized feeding essential in captivity. Studeriotes longiramosa naturally anchors itself in sandy or rubble substrates exposed to moderate water movement, so maintaining stable water quality, providing multidirectional flow that carries food across the colony, and preventing sediment from accumulating on its tissues are important for preserving its characteristic form and long-term health.
