Hoplisoma trilineatum is a small armored catfish from South America, long known in the aquarium hobby under the name Corydoras trilineatus and often associated with the common name three-stripe corydoras. Its fine reticulated markings, dark line through the eye, and peaceful shoaling behavior along the bottom make it a familiar and attractive species among cory-type catfish, although it is sometimes confused with Hoplisoma julii in the aquarium trade. When keeping Hoplisoma trilineatum in an aquarium, it is important to maintain a group of its own kind, provide a fine or smooth substrate that will not damage the barbels, and keep the bottom area clean with stable water conditions so this gentle bottom-dwelling species can remain healthy and active.
