Hemigrammus erythrozonus is a small South American characin known in the aquarium hobby as the Glowlight Tetra, admired for its translucent body and bright orange-red lateral stripe that gives the fish a warm, glowing appearance. As a peaceful and hardy shoaling species, it is well suited to planted community aquariums with other gentle small fish, where a group can create a soft line of movement and color across the aquascape. In captivity, maintaining stable slightly acidic to neutral water, offering finely sized balanced foods, and providing both open swimming space and planted shelter are important points for preserving its clear stripe coloration, natural shoaling behavior, and long-term health.
