Gastrodermus pygmaeus

Gastrodermus pygmaeus is a very small armored catfish from South America, long known in the aquarium hobby under the name Corydoras pygmaeus and commonly called the pygmy cory. Its tiny body, dark horizontal stripe, and active shoaling behavior make it a charming species that often swims not only along the bottom but also through the middle areas of the aquarium. When keeping Gastrodermus pygmaeus in an aquarium, it is important to maintain a group of its own kind, provide a calm environment with fine foods suited to its small mouth, and keep the water clean and stable so this delicate miniature catfish can remain healthy and active.
