Tectus fenestratus

Tectus fenestratus is a marine top shell snail recognized for its conical shell and steady grazing behavior, making it a useful cleanup organism in saltwater and reef aquariums. By slowly moving across live rock, glass, and other hard surfaces while feeding on film algae and microalgal growth, it helps maintain a cleaner aquarium appearance while adding the quiet, natural activity characteristic of marine snails. In captivity, Tectus fenestratus should be kept in stable saltwater conditions with appropriate salinity, good water quality, and enough natural algae to graze on, while care should be taken to avoid sudden parameter changes and to monitor individuals that may struggle if they become overturned.
