Petitella bleheri

Petitella bleheri is a small South American characin known in the aquarium hobby as the Brilliant Rummy-nose Tetra, admired for its vivid red head and striking black-and-white pattern on the caudal fin. As a peaceful shoaling species, it is especially valued in planted aquariums because a group often swims with strong coordination, creating a lively yet refined sense of movement across the aquascape. In captivity, maintaining clean and stable slightly acidic to neutral water, offering finely sized balanced foods, and providing both open swimming space and planted shelter are important points for preserving its bright head coloration, natural shoaling behavior, and long-term health.
