Chrysiptera springeri

Chrysiptera springeri, commonly known as Springer’s Damselfish, is a small and hardy marine fish native to the Western Pacific that is highly regarded in the reef aquarium hobby for its striking deep blue coloration and its beneficial role in pest control. This species is particularly valued for its natural tendency to prey on flatworms that can plague coral colonies, making it an excellent functional addition to reef tanks where biological control is preferred over chemical treatments. Despite being a member of the damselfish family, it exhibits a relatively peaceful temperament compared to many of its relatives, and it thrives in well established aquariums provided with plenty of live rock for hiding and a stable environment to maintain its vibrant health and color.
