Hoplisoma simile

Hoplisoma simile is a small armored catfish from South America, long known in the aquarium hobby under the name Corydoras similis and often associated with the violet cory or smudge spot cory. Its subdued grayish to violet-toned body, fine spotting, and blurred dark marking near the caudal peduncle give it a calm and distinctive appearance among cory-type catfish. When keeping Hoplisoma simile in an aquarium, it is important to maintain a group of its own kind, provide a fine or smooth substrate that will not damage the barbels, and keep the bottom area clean with stable water conditions so this peaceful bottom-dwelling species can remain healthy and active.
