レッドタイヤトラックスネールは、東南アジアの河口などの汽水域に生息するアマオブネガイ科の巻貝です。最大の特徴は、非常に高いコケ取り能力と、その美しい殻の模様です。赤〜オレンジ色の地に、タイヤの跡（トラック）のような黒いラインが入ることからこの名前で呼ばれます。水槽のコケ取り貝として非常に優秀で、特に茶ゴケに対して絶大な効果を発揮します。また、純淡水の水槽内では繁殖できないため、意図せず増えすぎてしまう心配がない点も、人気の理由です。The Red Racer Nerite Snail is a species from the Neritidae family, native to the brackish estuaries of Southeast Asia. Its most defining characteristics are its extremely effective algae-eating ability and its beautiful shell pattern. It gets its name from the black, tire track-like lines on its red to orange shell. It is an excellent algae eater for aquariums, particularly effective against diatoms (brown algae). Another reason for its popularity is that it cannot reproduce in pure freshwater, eliminating any worries about overpopulation.
